Introduction
“Fun with Pictures” (Page 100) is a supplementary activity page in the Mridang Class 1 English textbook. It serves as a picture observation and discussion activity designed to:
- Develop observation skills
- Enhance speaking and vocabulary related to fruits and vegetables
- Practice counting (numbers 1–10)
- Introduce colours of fruits and vegetables
- Promote healthy eating habits

Note to the Teacher (शिक्षक के लिए नोट)
- Encourage children to answer all the questions, even if they say in their home language. Help them find English names for fruits and vegetables.
- Names identified by children can be written on the board. This builds vocabulary and confidence.
- Help children answer in complete sentences. For example, instead of just “mango”, encourage “This is a mango.” or “I like mangoes.”
- Make the activity interactive – use real fruits and vegetables if possible. This makes learning concrete and memorable.
- Discuss healthy eating habits – why we should eat fruits and vegetables every day.
- Make connections to the child’s life – ask what fruits and vegetables they eat at home.
