Introduction
“This is My Town” (Pages 62-67) is the third chapter of Unit 3: Going Places in the Mridang Class 2 English textbook. This charming poem takes children on a journey from the town to the street to the house to the room to the bed to the basket and finally to the flowers inside the basket!
The poem uses a chain structure (also known as a cumulative pattern) that helps children understand spatial relationships and prepositions like ‘in’ and ‘on’.
The structure of the poem:
