Integration with Indian Knowledge System (भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरा से जुड़ाव)
- Butterflies in Indian culture: Butterflies are seen as symbols of transformation and beauty in Indian poetry and art. They appear in many Indian folk songs and stories.
- Rangoli designs: Butterflies are a common motif in Indian rangoli and kolam designs. Encourage children to draw butterfly patterns.
- Nature connection: India has rich biodiversity with many butterfly species. Discuss how we must protect nature and plants because butterflies need flowers to survive.
- Seasonal connections: Butterflies are seen more in spring and monsoon seasons. Connect to the “Seasons” unit that comes later in the textbook.
- Poetic tradition: Indian poetry has many nature poems. This poem is simple and connects children to the beauty of nature.
Note to the Teacher (शिक्षक के लिए नोट)
- Sing the song along with actions. Make it lively and energetic.
- Let the children repeat after you and then let them sing it on their own with actions.
- Encourage the children to speak using the given phrases (I see… on the tree/ground/sky).
- Provide regular and frequent practice of the phrases such as on the ground, on the tree, etc.
- Encourage the children to clap for every word in a line, for example, 5 claps for ‘butterflies, butterflies, up, up, up’ (as mentioned on Page 81).
- Let children clap for each syllable: e.g., two claps for mon+key (as mentioned on Page 83).
- Encourage creative thinking: The suggestion “Would you like to replace butterflies with anything else?” (Page 79) is a great way to develop creativity and word association.
- Support children’s attempts to speak and write. Even if they make mistakes, praise their efforts.
