- Indian farming tradition: India is an agricultural country. Farming and farm animals are an integral part of Indian life, especially in villages. Discuss how farmers in India keep cows, buffaloes, goats, hens, etc.
- Indian breeds of cows: India has many indigenous cow breeds (Gir, Sahiwal, Red Sindhi). Discuss their importance in Indian culture.
- Dairy in India: Cows and buffaloes provide milk which is used to make curd, butter, ghee, paneer, etc. Connect to “The Food We Eat” unit.
- Animals in Indian festivals: Cows are worshipped on Govardhan Puja. Discuss the cultural significance.
- Traditional animal sounds in Indian languages: Discuss how different languages have different sounds for the same animal (Page 91). This promotes multilingualism.
- Role of grandparents: The song mentions “dear grandpa.” In Indian families, grandparents play a significant role in teaching children.
